We went to lake Abiquiu in new mexico yesterday and were not allowed to launch!! All boats registered out of state or re-entering water craft must be D-CONED for quagga mussels and zebra and other AIS. The Corps of engineers D-CON unit would not come to temperature. We could have gotten a seal from Colorado if we had known enforcement had been ramped up, no signs no warning just stopped at the ramp by a ranger. I want to do everything I can to keep quagga mussels out of this lake but what a pain in the you know what. They asked me where I launched last and I said Chatfield in Colorado then it all started. NOW I have to make an appointment with Game and Fish to get D-CON'ed it is free but again what a pain. Does anybody know about a chemical treatment that will kill these bad boys in the heat exchanger and washdown filter, the standing water that got me into trouble??? Three states that appear to be cooperating are Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico.
