Hello folks,

I have been a reader of this forum for a few years doing research, and now own a 2023 Ranger Tug 27! I'll be travelling to pickup the boat in a few weeks and moving the boat from CT back to NC.

My question regards the fine tuning of my 2024 triple axle Venture Trailer that I already own. I reached out to the trailer manufacturer, and have adjusted the tongue length and bunk overhang aft so that the boat's center of gravity (CG) is correctly positioned over the rear 1/3 of the forward wheel, but I'm not sure about the actual spacing between the bunks. The great folks at Ranger Tugs sent me a detailed measurement diagram that shows spacing between the center hard chines at 45 inches.

Can anyone on this forum advise if the bunks are spaced at 45 inches from outside edge to outside, or something else? I'm not sure if the bunks should sit outside the 45 inch chines, or inside. It seems that some of the measurements I viewed on this forum would have the hard chines resting directly on the bunks.

Thanks!

Travis

We had a custom trailer built for our 2009 Ranger Tug by Tuff Trailers in Washington state. They had all the measurements for our boat.
Never-the-less, when we lifted the boat onto the trailer the boat sat higher that I felt it should sit.
We took the boat and trailer 20 miles back to Tuff and had them do adjustments. Took all day but they lowered the boat on the trailer by about 5” and fine tuned the axle placements to optimize the tongue weight. That may not sound like a lot but it made a big difference in stability.
If you can find a Venture trailer dealer in Connecticut like Diamond Marine (East Haven, CT) or Connecticut Trailers (Bolton, CT) that would be willing and able do a fine tune of your trailer, with the boat in place, I think you would find that worthwhile. Especially since you have such a long trip back home.

The outside dimension the chines is just under 45".

Here is the outside to outside dimension on my bunk:
