Trailer bunks dont fit.

I have a 2015 R27. The trailer bunks at the stern going forward don't fit. They are nonadjustable, made from 4x8 lumber. Their top angle is too steep and the hull sits on the top edge. They are cut at 20 degrees. Can anyone give me the proper angle?

Kent, not sure what type of boat trailor you have but a 4" X 8" bunk is a little overkill. However if you load your boat on the trailer and pull out of the water you can measure the angle by using the measurement app on any smart phone. Most bunk supports are adjustable, and will rotate to adjust to the shape of the boat. You might be better off replacing the bunks and support hardware on your trailor. A cheep option compared to hull damage from a poor designed trailor. Without seeing your trailor set-up this is just my two cents worth of bar room tid-bits! Best of luck. Bob
 
I agree with Bob D. Your existing trailer bunks sound very unorthodox. Having the bunk locked into position is adding to the problem.
I’d recommend replacing what you have with more conventional adjustable bunks.
Should look something like this.

You might want a trailer shop to hoist the boat up while you/they make needed adjustments and parts replacements. You want the adjustable swivels tight (but not too tight) so they don’t flop around on their own.

PS: On our 2019 EZ Loader triple axle trailer for our C-28 (boat weight 10,000 to 11,000 pounds) the front bunks are 4X4 and the rear bunks are 4X6. All four bunks have auto adjustment brackets.
 
I would bet a dollar and a doughnut that Al ment 2x4 and 2x6
 
Bob, You owe me a dollar and a donut! The trailer is in the driveway and I measured the bunks this evening. Our old Tuff trailer for the R-25 Classic used 2x4 and 2x6 bunks. But the EZ Loader has beefier bunk boards.

I am the second owner of a 2016 R-27C and had a similar problem with the EZ Loader twin axle trailer that came with it. My trailer has/had 4"x6" bunks in the rear and 4"x4" bunks in the front. They are not adjustable. Port Boat House in BC sold a used C-28 trailer under a new R-27C to the original owner. The problem was the bunks did not support the boat fully along their length because of the different hull designs. When I brought this to the attention of Port Boat House, they refused to help with the required modification costs. Very, very poor response from Port Boat House. They said that as I was the second owner they would not deal with me and that the trailer would be fine. EZ Loader confirmed it was not fine!
The good news is that EZ Loader were very good to work with. I gave them the trailer ID number and they confirmed that the trailer was built for a C-28 not a R-27 and needed to be modified to provide proper support. To do this I purchased all new bunk supports, nuts, washers and u-bolts from EZ Loader and new 4"x6" and 4"x4" from the local lumber store. EZ Loader also provided assembly drawings which allowed me to make the modification and get the bunks set in the correct location. So other than spending a very long day in a boat yard cutting off the old bunks and bolting on the new ones and about $1,200 in parts all ended well.

I bought my R27 (2012 model) and EZ- Loader trailer, both new, from Port Boats. The trailer model number indicates that the trailer was set up by the trailer factory for an R27. Unfortunately, the front bunks were not at the correct angle. During the commissioning and sales process, the boat was off and back on the trailer a few times. The incorrect bunk angle caused some edge wear to the bunk carpet. Some slight scuffing of the gel coat also occurred. Soon after taking possession of the boat and trailer I noticed and then reported the problems to Port Boats. They corrected the bunk’s angle, replaced the carpet and fixed the gel coat on a priority basis without charge. Well, no charge to me, but EZ Loader probably got the bill. Port Boats were committed to making things right and they did.
 
Does anyone have the measurements (lift drawing) to fit a 2011 R27 to a trailer? I'm looking at acquiring a trailer for my R27 to be able to do basic maintenance out of the water. Myabe even move it to a different cruising location. Great Loop perhaps.
 
Thanks for all the replies. My trailer manufacture, Float on says the correct angle for the inboard hull is 22 degrees. That's steeper than what I have! Won't be resolved until I can pull the boat after the water comes back up in late April. Float On is being very supportive and interested seeing pictures of the hull/ bunks. they also said the angle for the outboard hulls was 25 Degrees.
 
Last word from from Float On is that the correct angle is 10 degrees. This matches what I measured when the boat was pulled. They are making new bunks predrilled and carpeted. Hopefully, they will ship soon. They said that was also the angle for the R 25.
