My brother-in-law just purchased a new 2017 26-foot crownline boat. The trailer that came with it is rated for over 6000 lbs and up to a 28-foot boat. I'm wanting to take the 5-Hour drive down to Pensacola Florida to buy a brand-new R23. Can I use his new trailer for the Ranger? I don't understand why ranger wants $10,000 for a new trailer. Please explain why his brand new $3,000 all aluminum double axle trailer won't work to transfer the R23 5 hours to Lake Lanier.

You would need to look at how the bunks are setup. Theoretically you could probably make it work for a short one time trip with strapping the boat down well. About the trailer price, are you looking at the Ranger website or an actual quote? The Ranger prices do seem a little high. The all aluminum trailer I got with my R-27 was about 7k but has significant upgrades to the axle's, brakes, tires, tongue, etc.

The price is $10,740 off the ranger website. Since I won't be moving the boat around a lot I figure I can borrow the trailer for the trip. I don't see why his trailer won't work. I'm kind of a safety sally when it comes to things like that and I'm 100% confident his trailer will work for my needs. I'll strap the boat down good and take it easy coming back.

As long as it rests properly on the bunks you should be fine. I would bring some extra 2X4's in case you need to build up the bunks and some old carpet and some tools if you need to adjust the bunks to accommodate hull width. .
