I have what might be a dumb question; has anyone added boat guides to the trailer for an R27OB? They might not make sense for the purpose I’m thinking of. We live very near the Missouri River in Kansas City and bought a new 2022 to do the Loop, mostly solo. But between floods, Covid and neglect/lack of interest, there are no ramps with docks on the river within 90 miles. Several ramps within a few miles and probably easy enough to launch…as long as the person driving the boat and trailer doesn’t want to come along. But my main concern would be trying to get it back on the trailer without a dock and a fairly swift current. It might simply be undoable? But I thought if anyone might know a way, this group would. Kind of embarrassing to have our city right on the river without a practical way to access it. Thank you.

If you are looking for Heavy duty trailer “guide ons”. Contact Ve-Ve Inc. 763-427-5330. We have them on our C-28 trailer and they make boat loading a cinch-even in current. The SKU for our order was T-967-G.

Thank you so much! I super appreciate it.

besides guides, I have also found that if a ramp is wide enough, lowering the trailer cooked into the current helps so that you are reducing the current from hitting you broadside.

2015 R25sc. I do a lot of solo loading and unloading. I put two sets of guides on my trailer, one set about 2 feet in front of the wheels and the other set about 3 feet behind the wheels. This makes aligning correctly very easy. I just need to be careful about getting dock lines tangled, but have gotten used to doing that and have no problems. I would post a photo, but I guess that function is no longer available.

Great idea; I will definitely try this, too. Thank you.

I really like this idea…I have to get down to my rig and see if it’ll work on the trailer (triple axle). I was thinking that the 27 would be too heavy but hopefully not. Another friend suggested trying the guide (s) only on the downstream to make it easy.

More experimenting. I sure appreciate everyone’s help.

Hi Jealous Mistress. I received the T-967-G guides that you recommended this weekend and installed them today. They are super substantial! I have a question, if you don’t mind; have you trailered very far with them? On our aluminum trailer (our’s is an Alumatrek), when I move the guide around with my hand, I can see the I-beam kind of twist and flex (it’s an 8”). I’m not looking for anything to worry about or more work when we go boating, but I wondered how much stress they’ll put on the trailer when we are going down highways and interstates? I haven’t tested them yet which I’ll do soon, but thought I’d check in with you while I was thinking about it. Worse case, if they do cause too much stress, I could fabricate a quick disconnect for them and just install at the boat ramp. But would obviously rather not if I didn’t have to.

Thank you so much.

Not an issue I am aware of. So far our road trips haven't exceeded 600 miles. Scott at S@LTD on this forum recommended these guides as he put them on for his C-28. I believe he has put on substantial road miles. Perhaps Scott could weigh in?
