Trailer tires or truck tires?

We were just informed that we need new tires on our trailer that we haul our 25' Ranger on. And checking around some say truck tires are needed some say the trailer tires are just fine. If you could answer quickly it would sure help.

Trailer tires but get the correct load range.. The higher load range ones take 80 psi .. I think the are load range E

We are moving to LT tires [light truck] If they are good enough to haul you family , dog and self around ,they are good for the boat too. Trailer tires are worse every year and I have changed so many [even load range Es ] that I will not buy trailer tires for a large trailer unless I have no choice .
Check load capacity of course and make sure its adequate for the weight of boat and trailer .

Pros and cons to the truck tire on a trailer. On the pro side: they are designed to go more miles than most trailer tires (which generally are beyond their useful life before they run out of tread). Higher speed rating on truck tires (trailer tires are generally rated at no higher than 65 mph).

The BIG con: truck tires are built different in the sidewalls - they are not designed for the side stress that trailer tires deal with (think about how your tires flex and twist when you are backing that trailer in a tight turn).

The manager at the tire shop we frequent told me he does not recommend truck tires on a trailer... even though they cost more.

I recommend trailer tires because of the stronger side walls. Get the tires rated for your trailer, which should be the same as the tires you are replacing or stronger.
