We've got an interested/potential customer who wonders about the realities of trailering an R29 from NY to FL and back again. Ideally, he'd like to bring the R29 to FL for six months and bring it back north for 6 months.
Does anyone out there have experience with this kind of trailering - and would like to share tips and experiences?
Thanks in advance for your input!

Peter,

I can't remember who it was, but this past winter he trailered his R-29 from Ontario, Canada to Fort Myers and his report was very favorable. Perhaps he will see this and chime in or someone will remember who it was.

I believe it was Irish Mist. It sounded like he had a great trip both ways. If you have a large enough truck and a good triple axle trailer, it should be very doable.

It is Irish Mist, I've sent them an email to check this post out and respond accordingly.

It was me 🙂 it was easy peezy and can't wait to do it again.. Permits are easy to get and are all avalible on line.. You can do yourself or use a company to get them .give yourself a couple weeks lead time incase you have any delays but typically they take an hour to respond. You need to indicate your route through each state and they approve it You need wide load signs on the front of your truck and rear of the boat and flags on the front of the truck on each corner and at the widest point of the load. Most truck stops have what you need. You need to make sure your not traveling 1/2 hour before sunset or until 1/2 hr after sunrise.. I also listed my boat as 9 ft11 inches as there was something in one state about 10 ft or wider. You need to stop at all the scales and usually they will just wave you through. The only real inspection I had was in Georgia where they wanted to make sure the safety brake worked. They just pull the safety pin and ask you to try to pull away.. If the trailer moves you are in trouble. .. I slept on the boat at night on the way I left the fridge on and some water in the tank so I could use the toilet with the shower for flushing.. I made tea and toast with the inverter .It was a great trip.. I took two friends with me on the way south and they are still talking about the trip down.. I came back alone and that was just fine..I do suggest fueling at truck stops as they are easy to get into and out of. I took I75 all the way except where I was routed around city's as it was a simple route. PM me with any questions or ask here I'm glad to help ..
