Hello,

I have a new 2021 R25. Does the transducer measure depth from actual location (which would be the bottom) on the boat or from the water line? The difference I presume would be abut 1.5 foot.

Thank you!

Transducers can be programmed from either water level or from keel or anywhere in between. As I recall the settings would be somewhere in your Garmin GPS. Personally I prefer setting mine from the keel or lowest point of the boat so I don’t have to do any math calculations, I simply know the depth from the bottom of the boat.

ok, thanks for the reply. I just got the boat and still playing with all buttons!

Congratulations on the new boat. I love these boats… and I agree with ttk from bottom of keel

There is a keel offset setting. Everyone has a personal preference of using actual or keel. I use actual depth and before I start the setup I would have the boat loaded at my usual weight. That would be full water, fuel, all supplies and the wife's clothes. When I am doing an initial setup I will usually use a line with a sinker and place that overboard till it just touches bottom. I then will pinch the line at the surface and bring it up and measure actual depth. I then adjust the keel offset until I match the actual depth. I know my boat draws 26 inches. I set my depth warning alarm at four feet for safety. I know you PNW people are now aghast at a four foot setting, but here on the east coast that is acceptable.

As the others have said it is configurable, but my boat was setup to subtract the draft. There's one way you can tell. Look at your sonar chart. When I look at mine, the number will say 10 feet, but the graph will show about 13 feet. The setting appears to subtract from the numerical readout, but the graph is still absolute if you check the small numbers on the y-axis. I forget where the setting is in the menus, but you can hunt it down.
