Where online can I buy motor oil 30 wt. Class CF for my gearbox. What's everybody using? The CF class is hard to find.

Phil

You can purchase SAE 30 just about anywhere. Walmart. AutoZone. Pep Boys.

CF is the minimum if the letters are higher in the alphabet than is is a higher rating than what was originally specified.

The CF had me confounded....didn't realize it got better as you get closer to A. Thanks.

Phil

Hi Phil,

I use Shell Rotella T1 SAE30 for the gear box. It is API service CF-2, CF.

The "C" service specs are for Diesel engines, think of Compression ignition. "S" specs are for gasoline engines, think of Spark ignition.

I believe it is the OTHER way, newer as you get farther away from A.

Yes as the letters get further away from the letter "A" the less obsolete the product is. As an example CJ would be better than CF, but CF should still be available. And as far as I was told SF should work also, but I would stay with CF.

You can get the Rotella T1 SAE30 at Walmart

Thanks Rick. On the way to Walmart I stopped at Pep Boys and found a great selection of CF etc. rated oils.

It is interesting to note that on many forums all over the web, Rotella is rated the best oil for all diesel engines, be they cars, pickup trucks, big trucks, or boats. I have not seen any other brand touted so highly. I like to stay with the winners. I figured it would be difficult to find, but was surprised to find it at Walmart.

Rotella for the Cummins 150 in Just Dreamin' and also for 6.6L Duramax in truck. Delo 400 30W in tugs Twin-Disc transmission. Both obtained at local Walmart and at a price point well below what marina charges for an oil change in engine and transmission.
