We are planning a trip out from Rhode Island to Kentucky Lake at Kenlake Marina. As I am mapping out the road trip I see that we are being taken down the Edward Brethitt Pennyrile Parkway into Hopkinsville. Does anyone know if our rigs are permitted on that road and overpass heights that I may need to be concerned with.

We used to keep our sailboat at Kenlake Marina and although I've never trailered a boat the route you describe I don't think you will have any trouble. The Kentucky Parkways are like Interstates and the road from Hopkinsville (Hwy 68/80) is fine, too. Most of it is now 4-lane and what isn't is no problem. We are currently on Lake Barkely which lies parallel (more or less) to Ky. Lake and is joined by a channel at the north end. The Lodge at Kenlake has some delicious southern cooking by the way.

Patti's Settlement pork chops in Grand Rivers. Whatever you do, make sure get up there for dinner. This may sound crazy but you'll be amazed at how good a pork chop can be!

South Lake is right - Patti's in Grand Rivers right by Green Turtle Bay Marina has some fine chow albeit a bit pricey. Down closer to Kenlake Marina is a tiny village called Aurora and there is a very fine restaurant called The Brass Lantern. Here is the link the their website: http://www.brasslanternrestaurant.com/ Enjoy!

I don't know where we'll be in October - but somewhere on the river system. We'll look for you and share some good Southern cooking! Check out our Laurie Ann blog site http://www.laurieann-ranger25.com as it will have information that might be helpful in your planning.

Our plans are to slip south sometime in October on the way to Florida. These lakes are beautiful that time of year. We hope to meet up with any and all fellow tug drivers along the way!
