Hi All,

I am new to the Tugnuts world this spring and come from a recreational boating use background my entire life.

I have a 2014 Cutwater 26 purchased this new this April and loving it... Even made part of the Pocket Yacht Rendevous in Rock Hall Md last month...Great Buch of Boaters

Yesterday, while playing/swimming on the upper Chesapeake, I was cleaning my boot stripe and scrubbing the summer scum off the bottom side...I decided to check just how much movement is in the trim tabs from all up vs all down...

So I had my wife go to controls and push the starboard switch, in otherwards the one closest to the window, and she was shouting back that she was...

I began yelling back that the one closest to the window... And she yelled, this time, I Am...All I keep hearing was a motor running and nothing moving.... After 22 years of marriage, I know when she must be right, so I go to port side and it's moving...AMAZING...

So I quickly apologize.. And blame it on quality control(#%^*^%#^**^##^<)

I would recommend to jump in and do this simple test... But don't yell at your wife !!

The Good: the trim tabs work better now that I have to think in the opposite manner...and making up is always fun 🙂

You may have been mistaken or I did not understand you. It can be misleading, but at the same time intuitive. The trim tab buttons reflect the reaction of the boat, IE. if you want bow down or up on starboard you press the starboard button. However, that activates the opposite tab. You may realize the error the next time you use your tabs on the waster.

Got it... I never watched them move when paying with switch.... Maybe I'm wired backwards... 🙂 she has said that too!

I will have to play with this when do not have a crew on board and have a better feel for the boats movement... I appreciate your quick reply. Thank you!

I too was also confused with the Trim tab buttons until watching which trim tabs moved per the rocker switch position being pressed down or up. It's maybe a left vs. right brain thing... When car rallying years ago my wife and I had fun with directions (same as you yelling to your wife) .... she would say "Turn left..." and I would reply "Right...", and she would yell "No, LEFT...".

I also posted the same enquiry a few years back and several people responded in a similar way to Mike's posting.

Just push the buttons in a way that you want the boat's attitude to react.

Bow down: Push both rocker switch down at the front.

Bow up: Push both rocker switches down at the back.

Starboard lean with bow up or down: Push the starboard rocker switch down at the front for bow down or down at the back for bow up.

...and so on.

Try it a few times when on the water and it does or should become intuitive after a while.
