Subject: Trim tab operations on the new 2018 R-27/OB
It took me a while to get the hang of how to operate the trim tabs on my R-25 (Classic). Having mastered trim tab use on the R-25 has made it a lot easier for me using the trim tabs on the new R-27/OB model.
One of the annoying things I found with the R-25 was always having to ensure the trim tabs were fully raised before setting off from the dock.
With this new R-27/OB model I no longer have to remember to raise its trim tabs at the start of a cruise. Why you may ask ? This is because when the engine is turned off the trim tabs automatically are raised. The sound this makes is very similar to the noise heard when the outboard motor is being trimmed up and down or when the motor is being raised out of the water when docked for the night for example. Unless you know that the trim tabs are automatically raised when the engine is turned off this fact may go unoticed.
