We are planning to cruise (R25) from Anacortes to Prince Rupert and possibly to Ketchikan, departing about mid May. We are thinking about leaving the boat at Prince Rupert and traveling back to Anacortes to get the truck and trailer and drive to Prince Rupert to pick up the boat. I have not been successful in finding a ferry route back to Anacortes. I did find a ferry to Port Hardy, but not finding a way from Port Hardy to Anacortes. Have others done this? Suggestions of where to leave the boat? Optional ways to get back to Anacortes? Other suggestions??
Thanks!
Rick

You can bus it to Victoria then ferry from Victoria to Port Angelas

There is also a ferry from Sidney (near Victoria) to Anacortes.

There is a ferry from Prince Rupert to Bellingham, WA but it is a circle route via Kitchikan, Homer, then Bellingham. Two days total on the ferry.

Rick,

You can check on the 'Alaska Marine Highway System' website. From Prince Rupert you can take a ferry to Ketchikan, just a few hours trip. You'll have to connect with another ferry which in July departs Ketchikan for Bellingham each Wednesday. You have to put your boast/trailer/truck on and off the ferry yourself and I would check closely on overhead clearances, turning radius and the angle of the ramp and underside clearance. If you call the Alaska Ferry people they are very helpful.

I transported my empty dual axle EX Loader trailer for my R-27C from Bellingham to Haines last July and there wasn't a lot of under carriage clearance as I topped the loading ramp.

Good luck in your planning. I made the same trip you are planning last June and continued onward to Seward, AK. Quite the adventure. Give me a call and I can share my experience with you.

Hi Rick and Sue, I have a lot of charts and books of the area between Prince Rupert and Sitka AK if interested?

Hi, I will be doing the same trip (except the trailering part) this summer also! I plan to leave a bit later, the first week of June.

Maybe we will run into each other!

Thanks Everyone!!! Appreciate the responses. We will plan to return to the U.S. and pick up the truck and trailer using the ferry from Ketchikan to Bellingham. Drive the truck and trailer up to Prince Rupert, load the boat and head across Canada through Calgary back to Wisconsin. Will be a great adventure!

Another Question: Is anybody aware of a marina or place in Bellingham that I can store the truck and trailer?
