Where in the Seattle lr Portland areas can you get a trolling valve installed for the Yanmar 4BY-2 150 hp motor? Any ideas on the cost of the valve and the install? Are they harmful to the engine, clutch or transmission in any way? Does anyone have experience to share about using one on a 25SC?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, I have a lot of experience with my trolling valve on my 25SC. And several opinions. Send me an email with your phone number if you wish and I will give you a call. kjhough@hotmail.com Be sure to put "trolling valve" on the subject line as it will go to my junk.

I have had two ranger tugs with trolling valves and can discuss this with you.

I have found the trolling valve on my R25sc to be of questionable value. It is very difficult to maintain headway given wind and current at the lower speeds. I due as well fishing without it as with it. Speed of the boat is not as significant as speed of the bait in the water and there a lot of opinions among long line trawlers about how slow you need to go. You might do some more research about trolling on fishing websites before you pop for the valve. If you are going to fish in the ocean, it is definitely not worth doing.
