I'm reading the Business Review, a local publication, this morning and noticed an article about expansion of the Port of Albany for increased cargo handling capacity. The picture accompanying the article happened to include a Ranger Tug on its way upstream. Red hull...either a 25 or 27. Probably doing the canal loop. Nice to see another Tug in my neck of the woods!

Phil,

Interesting regarding the photograph.

My wife Judy and I are heading your direction in early September for the Waterford, NY Tugboat Roundup. Not even going to attempt to bring Just Dreamin' as the event appears to be one of significant crowds with extremely limited waterway access. Therefore, Hampton Inn will become our R25 for the weekend. Looking at the event schedule I think a fun time is waiting! Plus a number of vintage tugs.

Mike & Judy,
Waterford is not far from me, and about an hour from my Tug. If you have the time and are so inclined, I would be delighted to have you on board for a tour of one of the most beautiful large lakes in the USA.

Phil

Phil, I will send you a PM with our trip plan.

We are on the Shrewsbury River (Oyster Bay) and are planning to leave with our 27 on the 15th for the Erie Canal and north. If you have done the Erie or another of these canals, would you have any suggestions as to navigating thru the locks?

I haven't traveled the Erie Canal (yet), but if you start a new thread on the Erie Canal, you will probably hear from several who have.

we just finished a passage from Waterford to Tonawanda. Would be happy to share my impressions. Best to contact me by PM.

I keep my R29 in Athens, just south of Albany, NY. Just spent my vacation, two weeks,on the Erie. You will have a great trip. If you want to talk send me contact info. I was planning to boat up to Albany this weekend for lunch. Maybe wee could meet.
