There's nothing I enjoy more than being in a boring meeting when my cellphone rings and everyone hears three original tugboat whistles or horn blasts! Actually, sometimes I have it planned where after 30 minutes, my secretary will call my phone which I mistakingly left on... I excuse myself and duck out of the room...
These ringtones and 13 more soundbites (vhf radio chatter, voice commands between the captain and mate, etc.) were recorded on the old Curtis Bay tug, Cape Henlopen, in Baltimore harbor more than 30 years ago. They are part of 25 minutes of rarely heard wheelhouse sounds along with a short introduction. Instructions to transfer them to your cellphone are included.
The CD, a tug lapel pin, tug note cards and the book, Gentlemen of the Harbor, are available at www.gentlemenoftheharbor.com
