We recently started the Great Loop at Joe Wheeler State Park in Alabama. There was a "rendezvous" held there of boats and boaters starting the Loop. This is a 6000 mile loop of the eastern US. We were excited to see another Ranger Tug there, a R-27OB named Long Recess. We are in a R-27 Classic. We towed it from Everett Washington and are still exploring the Tennessee River before starting south to Mobile Bay and then to Florida for the winter. Hope to see some more Ranger Tugs along the way. Keep your Eye out for Amy Marie. We have a blog of our trip at: https://mikebethadventures.blogspot.com/

Very exciting! I will follow your blog. Hope one day we will be able to do the loop.

Just started reading your blog it’s a great why to get insight for our soon to start trip. We hope to start sometime in January. Maybe we will cross paths in Florida.

We're on the loop. Started January 15 from Chattanooga, Tn. Our adventure is blogged from currentlytheboat.com. We're now just North of Ft Lauderdale. We're seeing some Ranger Tugs along the way.

Amy Marie is now exploring the St. Johns River in Florida. This is an amazing area to visit. We recently did a "jungle cruise" around Hontoon Island. An R27 or smaller is the perfect vessel for this adventure. You have to drop your mast to avoid low hanging branches and vegetation. The shallow draft is also a benefit. We're here in Palm Coast with Voodoo in our blue R29s enjoying the Florida sunshine. We're slowly making our way North.

I have completed my Great Loop mostly on my R 17 inboard. Beginning in April I will head from Stuart, FL back to Maine allowing my boat Nano to cross her wake in NYC. Great great loop boat. You can find me on Nebo.

Thoroughly enjoyed your photos and description of the "jungle cruise" on the St John's river! And so happy to see your adventure is going so well. Savor every day as this adventure is truly life changing.

Mike/Beth, Bruce/Maggie - thank you for sharing your adventure with us! Please keep blogging! 😀
