Has anyone used the ultra sonic antifouling and does it work? Where was best placement of the units?

I started to look into it, but it appeared it was cost prohibitive in all but commercial applications. If you have found something more affordable I would be interested to learn about it.

I took a very brief look at this idea many years ago when we were in MD and fouling was more intense. One of the issues that came up was that in some States, don't remember which, these units were banned because of interfering with marine life. The the price question then killed the idea completely.

For a small boat 25 ft its about 800 for a two device unit. If it works seems reasonable but havent really found conclusive testimonials that it works. I could put in a boat lift but that is alot more money of course.

I had Soni-hull units installed on my RT29 in anticipation of moving it to saltwater. At the same time I had nw anti-fouling bottom paint applied. I can’t yet say how the ultrasound device work in aggressive-growth saltwater, but in fresh I have no issues. I have a friend with a Fleming 65 and he installed them over five years ago. Went from annual haul out and bottom cleaning to about every three years. He’s in the southeast US.

We have a Sonihull that came with boat. Diver says our hull looks same as others without. Would not spend the money.
