Update from Jeff Siegel - Drag Queen integration in Aqua Map

Cool App. Thanks for sharing this. 😀

Took a few tries and some help from Technical Support but I finally got the right version loaded and some charts installed. Seems easy to use, very easy to see, and has good AC integration.

Went to sleep after closing app - the battery was at 80% - woke up to a dead battery.

Apparently Aqua Map continues to use power after you stop using it. I did look at the Anchor Watch, but had disabled it in the settings before shutting down.

Looks like $30 bought me a battery killer.

I had downloaded Aqua Map when Blue Charts was down. Not impressed at all about Aqua Maps
I'm not impressed with Aqua Map either. I downloaded it after it got some very good reviews. If I am in the middle of the channel here in Penobscot Bay Maine... there is great depth contour detail, but near the shore... that detail goes away. Near the shore is where I want the detail. I consider Aqua Map a waste of money.

I'm inclined to keep it because the AC integration is better than the new version of Garmin.

Once I know about the power usage, I can shut off my IPAD until I figure out how to get Aqua Map to stop eating me alive - no problem, this happens with many new to Ipad/Iphone applications, they will fix it someday, maybe.

Since my boat's Garmin doesn't support AC, I only use it for piloting - local stuff - and do all the planning on my desktop or Ipad - Aqua Map may work out in the next release.

I have not explored but wonder if you can set gps polling to a larger value to reduce battery drain ?

The expanded map detail is terribly pixelated and unusable for me on my iPhone X. 🙁 Oh... just realized not all my map area had been downloaded....

Pixalation... (but partial map hadn't been downloaded

Battery use is quite significant after having launched Aqua Map some 30 minutes ago.

...and after some 90 minutes it had climbed up to 47%. It sure is a hungry beast...

I'm going to give it a shot as a back up to garmin. Like the anchor alarm, would like to see apple watch integration so we could get notifications when away from boat. Similar to isailor app.

I went to check a bridge air clearance on the North Fork of the St. Lucie river - it is there on the Active Captain web versio but the bridge is not there at all on the Aqua Map chart ????? I thought they were reality based, but apparently there are left wing and right wing charting programs.

Politics has gone to far.
