I have an original-year R23 (2017?), and I've become envious of the swimstep on the new R23s.

Is it possible to replace my current swimstep with the new swimstep? Is it as "simple" as just unbolting the old one and bolting on the new one?

If it is possible, is this something the Ranger Factory could do for me? Or would I need to contract with a marine yard (CSR Marine?) to do the switch for me?

Hello Jason,

Tell me, what do you like so much about the newer swim steps versus the one you have? This is definitely not one of those jobs where you just unbolt the swim platform. The entire piece is also an engine bracket so you would have to remove the engine as well. Sorry to say that the factory doesn't get into the aftermarket installations or modifications like this.

CSR would be a good choice but I am not sure if we can actually supply the parts. I would need to run it by the shop to see how long it takes to build and how much material cost we have into it. We have never built one as a sellable item so that would be something we would also have to consider.

Thanks Jason,

Thanks for the response - it sounds like it'll be expensive. I'll have to appreciate what I have 🙂

I like the integrated kicker mount on the new swimstep, there's no bracket to stub your toes on or trip over.

Also, I thought the new swimsteps extended further aft along both sides of the outboard with a V-cut, allowing the motor to still move while protecting it (and providing more space). But now that I'm looking online I see that's only for the new R25? I thought I also saw it on the updated R23 at the boat show last year, but I could be mis-remembering that.
