Upgraded mic with display compatible with Garmin VHF 215 ?

I bought a mic (GHC 11)with a display to replace the standard handheld mic. It is supposed to be compatible with the Garmin VHF 215 radio that is installed by the factory.
I can't get it to power on . Has anyone tried this upgrade and have suggestions ?

I have the same microphone. It had to be connected at the back of the radio. It came with a cable and mount to place the microphone in a remote location.

I'm in a 31S...It needs to be connected to the back of the Vhf Best thing I ever bought. (besides the 3 Ranger Tugs.. and this Hoyne Pilsner I'm enjoying now.... )

Thanks! It will be a tight fit on my R29 due to the limited availability access the back of the radio and to stow the 32 ft of cable and then drill a hole through the dash but I am going to try.
Any installation tips?

I found it pretty easy, just a bit nerve-wracking knowing where to drill (and where not to). Between this and the AIS I installed, there's a LOT of unused cable back there, but it seems to fit.

Thanks Gary. Is there any issue drilling through the leatherette covering the dash? I was concerned it might get caught up in the drill?

I cut an X in the leatherette and folded it back for the drilling just in case
