US west coast boaters coming to Canada

You do not want to let your NEXUS expire. I accidentally didn’t notice when mine did during Covid and it took me almost 2yrs to get it back.

Something worth noting. We have an annual remote border crossing permit (RBCP) from the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) It was issued in March 2024 and allows you to cross into Canada by boat from the Minnesota/Ontario border waters and along the north shore of Lake Superior without checking into customs. If you have something to declare, you still need to clear with customs. We've used it to cross into Canada from Voyerguers National Park and when visiting Thunder Bay Ontario. In September of 2024 the CBSA suspended the RBCP while reviewing "service needs and evolving trends" We learned this when applying for our 2025 permit. The good news is that they've made all existing 2024 permits valid through December 31st 2025 while they continue to review the program. This is as of February 25th, 2025.
