Useless searchlights no more!

Hmmm...should I ask the obvious....why doesn't RT do it differently when they build the boats?

Yeah, I don't know why it can't be placed on the bow rail.

Cause it would not look cool there.

Last summer I ran into "sidetrack" in Ganges and got the tour. He has more mods than anyone as far as I can tell. He has solved the searchlight problem quite elegantly.

You all talk like you can see Epilogue's pics in his gallery, but when I go to his gallery, all I see is icons of a broken screen indicated the pics are not working correctly. I can view other albums with no problems, just not his. Any ideas why?

Thanks

Doug

Hello Doug,

Keep clicking on the broken picture Icons and you will end up seeing picctures. They are waaaay oversized (file size that is) thus can't be pasted into a message. I guess that's why the pic icons look like that?

Good luck,

I haven't had a huge issue with the spotlight shining off the bow. I use it when coming in at night to spot buoys by putting it on a focused spot in the mode that sweeps back and forth and it's aimed far enough ahead of the boat that it doesn't light up the deck. or, to light up our channel entrance I'll aim the spot but again from enough distance that it doesn't hit the bow or bow rail.

The bigger issue for me at night is that when I get closer in and there are lights behind the boat they reflect off the inside of the windshield and make it more difficult to see.

I also have the problem of lights behind me reflecting off the windshield at night....can't easily determine if the light is in front...or not. I drive with my head out the window to solve the problem. I wish there was a better solution short of closing all curtains and the rear door & window covers.

I solved the searchlight problem by re-mounting it above my radar dome.... using the shadow of the dome to remove any glare. I travel in the dark alot and this did the trick. Photo's in my album.
