In my v-berth on the stbd side, on the second « lapstrack » from the top in a horizontal row, I have multiple silver dollar sized yellow stains. Behind the stains I can feel something that feels like a rounded carriage bolt head. There is nothing on the outside of the hull in this position. Any ideas as to what is behind the monkey fur in this location causing the discoloration ?

I’m sorry I don’t know what is behind the monkey fur for that location, but I do know how to get the rust stains off the monkey fur.

I sprayed the monkey fur with a liberal quantity of Oxyclean.

Then I scrubbed it with a plastic pot scrubber.

After a few minutes I wiped it with a wet towel twice.

The rust stains, fingerprints, and Diesel
smoke stains all cleaned up easily.

It took some work to bring our 2010 R 25 to the point where it looks pretty clean but is OK.

Perhaps it comes from glue drops that where applied too generously. Moisture might be attracted to it and causes staining from leeching glue components. It may be practice by installers to deposit glue blobs on the fiberglass and the mouse fur was applied before the blob was as smoothend over the fiber glass
