VHF Radio in 21EC

The VHF Radio in my 21EC comes on OK but no transmissions are being recieved and none of my transmissions are being sent. I have played with the squelch and have checked the aerial connection at the back of the radio and all seems to be good. I feel it is an aerial problem but have no idea where to look from here.
I also have a Raymarine C80 with GPS and Fishfinder with a through the hull transducer and when the water depth falls below 10ft the depth display on the screen flickers and then disappears any help would be appreciated

Rudy probably has some advice for permanently solving these problems... (crude attempt at humor)

I would suggest you get someone with experience to physically inspect your setup - as opposed to us doing a SWAG analysis...
Briefly (very) on the radio:
1. Need to see if the antenna/coax works by using another radio (handheld, or a SWR meter)
2. Need to plug a temporary antenna to your radio to see if the radio works...
At that point you will know where the problem is and you can start solving it...

On the sonar, need to have someone with experience physically inspect the installation...

I had a similar, but not exactly the same problem, with the depth display on my Raymarine Chart Plotter.
The depth display would go blank, then come back on, then go blank, etc.
Turning off the unit, then turning it back on, would restore the depth display, for about 5 minutes.
Finally the depth display went blank and stayed blank.
I had to send the chart plotter back to Raymarine for repairs.
They replaced the DSM (depth sounder module?) in the Chart Plotter.
