For all of you that have a VE BMV-712 Smart on your boats I have a question for you.
Mine is set up and working. On my phone Victron Energy app it thinks I am monitoring my “Starter Battery”. I’m not. I’m monitoring my House Batteries.
Is there any way to change the VE app from displaying Starter to House? Or is this something that can be done using the keypad on the BMV-712 display? I can’t find anything in the manual about making this change.
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Where in the victron app are you seeing that it thinks its monitoring the starter battery? I have the smart shunt which performs all the same functions without the head unit, and you can customize the name of the device in the app, but I am not aware of any settings for which battery bank is being monitored. If it's the name you're talking about, you click on the settings gear cog after clicking on the device in the victron app, then the 3 ellipse menu, product info, and there you can customize the name.

Thanks Dave,
In the app the first page is titled STATUS.
On that page the first section is titled State of Charge.
The next section is titled Output
The third section is titled Input
Under the Input section it says Starter Battery. I’m just not sure why it says Starter Battery or if that’s something that can be changed because the Smart Shunt isn’t connected to the Starter Battery at all!

The default configuration for the BMV-712 is to allow it to monitor an alternate battery bank (such as the starter battery) for voltage only. The battery monitor function only works for the bank for which the shunt is installed (house bank).

If you didn't wire up the voltage wire to your starter battery, do the following:
Open up your Victron app, go into the battery monitor. Click the gears in the top right for configuration.
Go to Misc, and below you'll see "Aux input" set to "Starter Battery". Change that to "None".

Martin,
That’s perfect! That section titled Input is now gone. And I now understand why it was there. Much less confusing now.
Thanks!
