Has anyone hooked up there GlobalLink 520 using the digital inputs to monitor their Bilge Pumps?

I've connected up the bilge pumps and the high water alarm to the cerbo gx, which has the same digital input functionally as the globallink 520. The main thing to note is that the digital inputs are very sensitive and designed to be either shorted or provided a clean reference signal at 3-5v.

Here's a couple examples:
1) A new float switch can be installed with the two leads (wires) from it connecting to the +,- terminal for 1 of the digital inputs. When the water raises the float it shorts the wires together and activates the input channel to signal whatever it is programmed to output (eg: high water)

2) An octocoupler circuit output can be installed and connected to the + terminal of each digital input and all of the - terminals wired together to ground. Then the octocoupler input can be connected in parallel to any 12v positive reference, in this case the desire would be the output wire between the existing float switch and the bilge pump. When the float or pump are activated the 12v supply switches the octocoupler and the circuit provides 3-5v to the digital input for that channel.

3) Basically the same as #2 but using either an octocoupler or a relay board to receive a 12v input and then short the +,- of the digital input channel together to trigger the output.

If you try to just wire a 12v signal into the digital inputs you will wind up with a dead unit very quickly (immediately).

Very useful information and much appreciated!

Thanks!
