"Vinylester Barrier Coat" question

My past experience in boating has left me familiar with epoxy barrier coating. Will the "vinylester barrier coat" that the boat is built with do the same thing regarding preventing osmosis/blisters?

For context, my boat is in a freshwater slip and only gets some algae growth. I can not justify the cost of a bottom job for that alone. I was planning to leave the boat with factory gel coat finish but I am concerned about blisters.

We apply a vinylester skin coat on the hull below the waterline to prevent blistering.
