The electronic fuel gauge for my Volvo D3 works intermittently. With plenty of fuel in the tank, it reads 0 and bounces around between 1/2 (where it should be) and 0. Is the sender bad? The other inputs seem to be accurate.
 
The volvo gauge on the 25 we had was inconsistent too. Try using the fuel remaining guage on the Garmin screen.
Go to information then engine. In order to have it display the correct fuel remaining be sure and reset the total fuel on board after filling the tank. We have found to be pretty correct.
