Good Afternoon:

I intend to do as much maintenance on my Tug's D4-300 engine and need to order the appropriate manuals. When I go on the Volvo Penta site, I found the following:

Workshop Manuals:
- Workshop Manual D4/D6, Group 30 Electrical System
- Vodia 5 User's Guide
- Workshop Manual D4/D6 (Group 21-26)

Service and Maintenance Manual:
- Service and Maintenance, D4-D6

Can anyone provide a recommendation as to what manuals to purchase to conduct routine maintenance versus completely tearing down/rebuilding the engine which I will never do?

Thanks!

Mike

HI Bosn Mate,

I have all manuals except the Vodia guide since I don't have a Vodia tool.

The Service and Maintenance is the one you are looking for. I think the electrical is beneficial for troubleshooting a problem if an error code shows up. The other one like you mentioned is basically tearing down the engine.

Hope that helps,

John

John:

Thanks for the help; much appreciated!

I got all three but then again I was a Machinist Mate! Lol

Ahh....then you would remember that any man can make a rate but only God can make a Boatswain's Mate.

BM1 sends!

Did you (or anybody else reading this thread) find a place to buy these manuals?

Or, better yet, have them in PDF?

The owner's manual is available (as PDF) on the Volvo Penta web site, but the workshop and service & maintenance manuals are not.

Thanks!
