Hello all:

I got a notice from VP of the Americas stating that a software upgrade should be performed ( 'at no charge' said the letter) on my D3 to reduce smoking at start-up. (not a bad idea) However, when I took the letter to my my local VP authorized-to-work-on-diesels dealer they knew nothing about it.

So I called the VP USA headquarters in Virginia( as suggested in the letter), since my local dealer didn't know what to do, and was told, amazingly, to contact a local VP dealer! Anyone else have this happen?
 
Same thing happen to me. I finally got in touch with Volvo Customer Relations in Virginia and was able to get the local dealer the information they needed to make the change. The contact at Volvo Customer Relations is Dana Hatton her phone 866-273-2539 and e-mail VPA.customerrelations@volvo.com. Dana was very helpful and follow up to make sure the dealer and I had what we needed. My software update will be done on May 9 by Seven Seas out of the Kent Island area.
 
Seven Seas did mine about 10 days ago. The improvement in the D3's cold-start behavior (smooth idle and minimal smoke) was immediate. The tech was relieved that there was 110v ac available at the dock for his laptop.
