Many of you may already know this but it was a surprise to me. Volvo Penta will not honor their warranty if you purchase a Volvo product from a NON Volvo dealer. I recently purchased a 2013 C28 which had a bad EVC display panel in the cockpit steering station. The owner had his marina replace it before I took possession. Six weeks later the cover detached from the display. The marina is located in Virginia and I live in SC so I had them send me the original invoice from Great Lakes Skipper. I called them and they would not take it back for an exchange because it was past their 30 day return window. I managed to speak with Volvo's east coast rep and he said he could only replace it if I could produce an invoice from a official Volvo Dealer. Great Lakes Skipper is not an official Volvo dealer. They buy their goods at auction or from overstock. To their credit, they are trying to find where the display came from and are willing to sell me a new one at discount. I tried to glue the cover back on and made a mess of it. So now I must decide if I want one for $250 or do I buy one from a dealer for $498? I think I'll take my chances with the cheaper one. Its only a one year warranty anyway.
