At Bruce Moores urging, we purchased one of the Spot Messengers. We signed up for the tracking portion of the service. When we are out on the water, you can go to the following link and see exactly where we are at:

It is really pretty cool since if you go to the satelite image, it shows you a real picture of the location.

Hello Karma Capt
Just saw your post on Spot Messenger. Looked up their website and some reviews. Other than having others track your voyages, are there other benefits? Sure would have liked to have something like this when I was raising my kids! Would have sewn it into their backpacks!

The spot messenger comes with features that you can use to call for emergency as well as non emergency help. That is the primary function of the tool. Secondary is being able to follow someones track. Our daughter will now know where her parents are!!!! Ummmm kind of funny, you wish you had one for your kids when they were growing up, now that our daughter is grown up, she will know where her parents are...... things sure do turn around when your kids grow up!!

Our daughter says our SPOT device is the best piece of mind (for her) boat equipment we own. Rather than run a track, we simply set it off when we are down for the day. She can see where we are and that we are OK. If we are in an area with no cell coverage, she doesn't have to worry about us. We also use it when land traveling with the RV.

I bought the tracking subscription the first year, but found it more of a novelty than a necessity for our use. We have never used the "send help" or "911" feature, but I would hope it works as advertised if necessary.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Thanks!
Sounds intriguing. A whole new "where is Waldo?" Only it's "where the heck are my parents?" When we take delivery of our R 29 in just a few weeks, I can see that my grown kids are gonna probably need one! Housework be damned. I'm heading for Puget Sound! I can see that it would be great for emergencies in locations where the cell phone doesn't work.

Hey Karma Krew - it's been fun watching you cross the Straight of Juan de Fuca this morning. Right now you're off Clover Point. Have a great time in Victoria - it's a jewel of a city.

Cheers!

Alright! You've cleared customs and are moored right in front of the Princess Hotel. I can stop holding my breath :^ )

Enjoy.

It seems that Karma is going in circles after track # 18  This is all very cool and thanks for spending money, time and effort showing/sharing this technology with us.
