Subject: Want to know how the curved glass for newer RT is installed

I was at the Kent factory the other day and caught a new 2018 R-27 having its curved windshield assembled and glued into place. It was quite a sight to behold. I captured 4 photos hoping it shows clearly how the windshield is installed.

Once things are all setup with the glass being held in place it's left for 24 hrs to allow the glue/adhesive to harden and set.

Interesting! Thanks for posting.

Barry,

Thanks for all the detailed photos and commentary. I think my 2018 R27 is the one just before yours (Red Hull #6), She'll be based up in Birch Bay, Wa.

Bob you're right about the red hull. It's Claret Red and it was our hull until 1st Mate made a last-minute change to Midnight Blue. So as it happened you wanted the Claret Red and Andrew was able to make a switch as the hulls are molded way ahead of the build schedules and we lucked out with having the Midnight Blue at the last possible moment. It also meant we moved up by one R-27 build and the Claret Red fell back to what now is your R-27. So, thank you for choosing the Claret Red and taking it off our hands.

Yes, your hull is #6 and ours is #7 but with the switch around hull #7 goes out the door before #6 I believe.

So Birch Bay is just south of the USA/Canada border and within spitting distance (kind of) to Point Roberts where my daughter's in-laws live.

You have but a short cruise distance to the San Juan islands and the Gulf Islands.... niceee. 🙂

It could be that the curved windshield glass assembly I took photos of was in fact for your boat. 😱 My glass was already done.

So we must consider ourselves as sisters or maybe brothers, or maybe twin boats. Will you be at the Roche Harbour gathering ? If so, we must compare boats etc at the meeting.

We take delivery between Aug 11 and 15. Our boat will complete Aug 5th but another week is required to apply two coats of bottom paint and that has to thoroughly dry before the boat is placed on a trailer to be delivered to us in Edmonds, WA.

Bob: Andrew mentioned to me I had your R-27 mixed up with another..... sorry for that... an honest mistake at best. 🙂

Bob: Yes I picked up your PM. It seems I'm also amiss with hull numbers.

The first R-27 hull is numbered 2710. The "27" is the RT model and the "10" is the hull number. Andrew told me (if I'm remembering correctly) they start hull numbering at "10" - and maybe for fear of alarming people who end up with single digit hull numbers.

My order number is RAT27E2217 and the build sheet showed it to be "2717". So from this my hull number is "17" and not "7". However, it's the 8th hull to have been molded because the numbering starts at "10" (ten)

My HULL ID for official documentation is US-FMLT2717E718.
