The R-27 we just purchased has no level indicator for the black water tank.
An overflow or worse a split tank would be a very messy disaster.
Any thoughts on adding a monitor to the tank?
Since the boat will be in charter service we want to make sure, to the best of our ability, the charterer is aware of the tank level and gets it pumped in a timely manner.
Thanks,
Bill

In my boat, the flush button is lit blue. When the tank needs emptying, it turns yellow. I believe when it is full, the button turns red and will not flush.

I have not tried the flush button yet and there was nothing in the manual about it indicating the tank level. It would be nice if that is the case.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Our 2014 had no tank monitor. We added a SCAD. Works great. Assuming you are a Classic inboard then a SCAD or similar is a must have. Easy to add on the outside of the tank with foil strips.

Curt,
It is the classic diesel inboard.
The SCAD looks like the simplest system and mounting the monitor in the head also simplifies the wiring.
Thanks,

If you mount the control panel in the head and use the shower you need to seal around it really well as the electronics are exposed on the back and are very sensitive to any moisture.

Curt

Curt,
Good point on the moisture attacking the monitor.
Have to give is lots more though.
Thanks,

We mounted ours on the fiberglass frame of the entry to the cave, just inside the cockpit door on the port side. On our way into the head, before openng the head door, it's easy to check the status of the tank. There's a 12v connection available Inside the cave on the left (a 12v light as a recall).

Another location to consider and certainly waterproof!
Thanks.
