Will installing a filter on our R27OB 2022 waste vent line furthest from the tank and closest to the Hull cause our waste tank to collapse when we pump out at our marina pump out station? We are trying to rid the odor every time we flush the toilet. We regularly empty the waste tank (twice a month when we fuel up) we only take day trips and use the R27 several times a month for day trips only. At the end of the day we flush with fresh water thru the toilet, add white vinegar thru toilet and thru waste pump out line. We also add odor killing fluid thru the toilet as well. Still have waste odor after flushing. thoughts

I see very little posted on this issue. I have a 2021 R27OB and have the same issue. I use to have a SeaRay 340 Sundancer and it had inline filters that prevent the smell. I hope someone from the factory can address this issue. I have also tried vinegar and the additives. Still smells bad.

I would love to hear of an easy solution. I’ve investigated putting in a filter and it is probably possible. By removing one or more of the monkey fur covered panels at the front end of the cave you can just see the vent hose from the waste tank. A smaller wiry type will have more success in the tight confines of the quarter berth than a Clydesdale such as myself. I came to the conclusion that if a filter was added: 1) I was not the one to do it and 2) the yearly maintenance/replacement ordeal made me more tolerant of the flush odors. If you do go with a filter I would suggest adding some sort of hinged or easily removable panel in the forward part of the cave where you will access the filter. Getting the screws realigned through the fur covering was frustrating as the screw threads kept catching in the fur instead of hitting the predrilled hole. Post photos and any tips you discover if you decide to do a filter installation.

I installed a filter as you suggest on our R27OB 2022 and it did little if anything to help with the order. It is a lot of work to install and there isn't an easy way to configure the panels after to make it easy to change the filter in the future. I would not recommend doing given the little if any benefit. I assume you are still using a salt water flush. In my opinion the only way to eliminate the oder is to eliminate the salt water. In another post I show where I installed a separate tank for fresh water flush. I have tried several other solutions and this is the only one that has eliminated the order problem for us.

The odor when flushing is coming from raw water line to the head. Vent filter won’t address this. I make it a habbit to drain the raw water line to the head when leaving the boat by closing the seacock and cracking open the strainer. Then flushing the head until no more waters enters the bowl. This and a shot of Raritan CP bowl cleaner in the head when priming the line and cleaning the bowl completely eliminated the bio odors when flushing. Stagnant raw water gets soooo nasty.

Is anyone using a good quality blank tank deodorizer? We do, and it does help. Also, rinsing with at least half a tank of water when pumping out will keep it cleaner. Disclaimer, we are in fresh water. However, I would convert to fresh tank for flushing if in saltwater.
