Took delivery of our new R-29S on Saturday. Had a great orientation and cruise home including a stop for lunch. While sitting in the slip enjoying a beverage, the First Mate asked how do we know when to pump the holding tank (on our Cutwater 26 you could visually check level every time you opened the engine hatch). I could not find a gage nor could i remember if there is supposed to be one so I check the on line Technical Specs. It states that a Waste Tank Monitoring system is standard. So where is the gage located (or are the tech specs wrong)?

On my Cutwater 30 the toilet flush button changes color form green to yellow to red. when red it won't flush. I pump it out once a week to keep the odors down and I have never had the tank fill to red.

We have the 2017 R29 CB and it has the same toilet flush button that changes color. Note that it's a contact style sensor. There's a contact at the mid point and at the full point. When the waste level hits those contacts it completes the circuit and the fluid level color changes.

Note that flushing with water apparently does not contain enough crap 🙂 to necessarily complete the circuit. I found this out by flushing my tank and looking at the fluid monitor to see when it turned red. It didn't turn red even when water spill out over the side of my boat...

By the way, my first mate doesn't know the waste tank is under the forward berth. Somethings just shouldn't be disclosed 🙂

Thanks - now I know.

What is the brand of the waste monitoring switch on the 2017 F29S?

I have an R-25 and use a 3ed party waste level monitor that I don't much like.

Thanks /Stu
