Our local (Whidbey Island) fireworks show is normally held in Holmes Harbor and we always thought it would be fun to watch them from a boat. And now we finally have a boat, but the show is cancelled again this year =(

So we were thinking of cruising somewhere else in Puget Sound to watch fireworks from the boat. We were thinking about Everett, but wondering what spots other people visit. Do you anchor out, or stay at the marina?

This is the topic of tonight's Waggoners webcast at 7:00 might take a look.

We are lucky in that we never leave the house to watch fireworks, as we live "on the Rez" in Tulalip, and get to watch the City of Everett's show (Jetty Island) and more impressively all of our neighbors' shows too!

The neighbor across the street from us, and on the bluff, spend dozens of thousands of $$$ on fireworks every year and it goes on for HOURS! There are four or five neighbors within a 1/4 mile that do a similar show, albeit not as impressive as the folks just across the street. Think of it as the 'Grand Finale' of a City show that goes on for about 2 hours.

Since he shoots them off on the top of the bluff with a bias towards the water, I always thought being on a boat just offshore would be amazing. Your head will be constantly swiveling, as there is never a time in which there's not numerous huge, gorgeous displays are in the air! I'm sure my little area isn't the only place that is like that, so it'll be interesting to see what the Waggoners recommend!

It's absolutely amazing, our little 'show'... so I'm hoping the current state of the economy doesn't affect my neighbor's display!! :?

Poulsbo has what is generally considered the best boating-accessible 4th of July show in the Sounds. I went every year for 5 years straight when I lived aboard; kept considering other options but was always talked out of it by other long-time boaters. Liberty Bay is an easy, easy, and very large anchorage with more than ample room for everybody who shows up. In the pre-COVID times, there was lots of dinghying around and meeting new people and partying, though plenty of people just keeping to their own boats if that's your thing too.

If you're heading north to the San Juans, Deer Harbor and Roche Harbor both have fireworks shows.

I don't know if any of the above are happening this year (one of my co-owners has Beagle on the 4th), but worth checking out!

Don't go to Poulsbo for the Fourth of July fireworks because they actually shoot them off on the 3rd of July

We like to hit Poulsbo on the third and quartermaster Harbor on the 4th. You are welcome to join us in quartermaster, boat name Exhale, a rare blue hull r27ob

Thanks for the tips. I checked on Poulsbo and found this: https://www.kitsapsun.com/story/news/20 ... 413286001/ - the outfit that put it on decided to stop doing it entirely so it is canceled this year (and perhaps permanently)
