Happy Spring all!
While prepping our 2015 C-28 for Spring-Splashing, I noticed some engine coolant on the flooring aft of the water heater. It looked like it ran from the front of the heater along the floor after I had jacked up the front of the trailer.

My obvious first suspicion is loose hose clamp(s) on the hoses that attach to the water heater that come directly from the front of the engine.

What is the easiest way to access the front of the water heater? Are there removable panels behind the sound/heat insulation to the starboard side of the engine compartment?

Thanks...

Yup. Hydraulic fluid isn’t yellow, and doesn’t have a sweet taste.
:-}

its a pretty common problem with coolant leaking on the hot water circuit. likely just a hose clamp loose.

i imagine the panel does come off in the engine bay but I would definitely try and tighten what you can from the starboard locker first.

Zero access to those particular clamps from the locker.

Hello,

Are the hoses on the FWD side of the hot water tank? They should be on the AFT end and accessible from the STRBD locker. If you want you could send me a picture of what the tank looks like in the locker, kevinlamont@rangertugs.com.

Thank you,

The hoses going to the hot water tank should be accessible through the deck hatch starboard compartment. There is a black hose going into the hot water tank and one coming out. Hose clamps are used to secure the hoses in place and seal them. After a winter of sitting they may develop a small leak and require tightening. If you inspect theses connections and find the leak is not coming from the hose connections you may have to pull the batteries and slide the tank aft to check to see if a hose is damaged. The hoses (2) run through the bulkhead that runs fore and aft, starboard side. One hose runs back into the hot water tank. The other hose attached to the hot water tank runs to the bus heater located near the helm the return hose from that heater is the other hose going through the bulkhead. Possible places for a leak. hot water tank connections, a hose, or the connections at the bus heater at the helm.

This picture shows the location of the hot water tank and the hose locations.
