Is it ok to leave the hot water heater on all the time while hooked to shore power? 2025 R27ob

We have a '21 R27OB. During fishing season when we're using the boat several times a week, we leave the water heater on for weeks at a time. The down side is a higher electric bill and perhaps having to replace the element sooner. If we're not going to use the boat for several days, we usually turn it off.

If you have a fresh water leak, it could drain and then burn out the heater coil. Personally I turn the water heater off if I am away for any extended time (and turn off the fresh water pressure pump any time I'm away or underway).

We leave our on all the time when we're connected to shorepower. That way it's pre-heated before every trip we take.

We often stay a night at our slip before leaving on a trip early the next morning. For this reason, like Martin, I leave the hot water on when on shore power so I can take shower in the morning before leaving the dock.

Thanks for the replies. Great info! We have been leaving ours on while on shore power because we stay on our boat quite often at the marina and we want the hot water to be on when we might need it. Thanks again!
