Wondered if you have a theory on this
After recent servicemen r22 main Yamaha f200 displayed a water in fuel warning on the garmin screen and the Yamaha screen. The engine runs perfectly, no symptoms of water in fuel. The big water separator was serviced , no water, the small filter on the motor was checked, no water. I replaced the small filter cup that has a wire connection to see if that water float sensor or wire was the problem. Still gives warning. When I disconnect that wire from the filter jar the signal doesn’t come on. The signal doesn’t come on at dock idling or underway at low speed. When I throttle up and now rises at about 13 mph the warning comes on.
Big mystery. Is there a water sensor in the fuel tank?
Have you encountered anything like this?
I don’t think there is water in the fuel since there’s no sign of water in either separator and the engine runs very nicely throughout the full range of Tom’s from 900 all the way to 4700, but I have to run it without the sensor on the small filter connected.

Someone else was having the same issue after service. However, yours seems a little different. It only happens when you go out of idle? There is a float at the bottom of the engine filter. Perhaps it is hung up and is not going down and hence the alarm. Maybe remove the filter and get to the float and check it out.

Thanks for the tip
I replaced that float switch and still have same problem.
I’m left guessing that it is some weird software bug in the Yamaha black box or the garmin. I’m going to disconnect all the batteries to see if a reboot on all the electronics does any good.
