I hauled the boat today and after several hours out in the sun I still have water dripping out of one of the screws that secure the swim platform to the transom. I assume this would mean that the seal has been compromised and water has entered the transom. Any thoughts on this? How to dry it out? What is the best course of action?

can you look into the compartment where the stern thruster is located and see if there is water present?

First check is where is the water actually coming from? If it is actually coming from the transom I would remove all the fasteners and the stanchion. Allow the water to drain and the transom to completely dry out. When the area around the holes seems to be dry mix some west system epoxy, use a syringe to inject epoxy in the holes. When the epoxy is cured re-drill holes to proper size for mounting screws. Use a underwater sealant Boat life or 4200 to seal screws and stanchion.

The other possibility there is a porous weld. The stanchion is full of water and leaking around the screw heads. I have seen that before. I have seen the stainless steel tubing crack from freeze because the tubing was full of water. I would remove the stanchion for both inspections.

I had this symptom. It was the stanchion full of water. The tubing is open at the end. I drained it and filled the hole with 4200 and that solved it.

Thanks guys I will look closely at it as soon as I can get back to the boat. I will remove the stanchion at look into the weld as well. Thanks for the great advice.
