Water Intake filter clogging

A recent lake visit with much algae in the water resulted in having to clean the water intake filter every half hour or so..I note that different size meshes are available and the EC21 comes with a very fine mesh..any problems with changing to a larger mesh filter????

It's easier to clean the filter than the cooling system. The algae could "bake on" in the cooling system. I had that issue this Spring with pine pollen. Just kept cleaning the filter until the pollen finally thinned out.

It might not be practical to stop the boat every 30 minutes to clean the filter while you are navigating thru shipping lanes, at night time, in a squall.
Well..........not a good example, but, you know what I mean.
Another option is to replace the entire filter with a larger filter.
