I have a 2007 R21-EC. This spring, after the boat was unwinterized by my yacht yard, I noticed that the water pump, instead of pressurizing the water system, just goes thump...thump...thump... If I open the water tap and then turn on the water pump, it will pump water as long as the pump runs.

My yacht yard people say the system does not have any leaks and they think it is a faulty pressure switch on the pump but that getting to the pump to service it will be very difficult (I have the air conditioner installed) and will be extremely expensive in terms of labor charges. They suggested I just use the pump when I want to wash my hands and not worry about pressurizing the system.

I would like the thoughts of the factory folks plus any of the gearheads in the audience on what I was told and on what my options are at this point.

In advance, thanks!

When they de-winterized did they get all the air out of the hot water tank?

That "thump thump thump" sounds like the same "thump thump thump" that we had on Karma when the pump went bad. Fortunately, fresh water pumps are easy to change out and fairly inexpensive......

Hello and thanks for asking the question. Your yard is 100% correct about the pressure switch being bad. Fortunately the R21 only has one faucet and if I was you, I wouldn't even worry about the thump. Its just not holding pressure. The pumps seem to work forever as long as you can live with turning the switch on and off.

Wynn, I have no hot water, just a cold water pump and sink.

Karma, access to our water pump is blocked by the air conditioning unit. The yard people felt it would have to be removed first, adding significantly to the labor charges.

Andrew, this is exactly what my yard guy recommended..."just live with it." I think I will for this season and see how it works out.

Thanks all of you for your quick responses!
