For our 2009 R-25, the cabin water pump has stopped working. There is power to the pump switch in the DC box but when the switch is on, nothing happens. Are we missing something or is it time to replace the pump?

If we need to replace, would like to upgrade to a better pump and minimize the installation time of configuring the new pump. Any suggestions for which pump model to purchase? Should we look at another Johnson pump (current pump is a 3.5 GPM pump). Looks like a next week project as carrying and using gallon jugs of water is too much like camping.

Check all your connections and make sure you have power to the pump. Johnson is a pretty good product so I am not sure you will get any better performance from another manufacturer. You don't necessarily want to go with a bigger flow either since you will only be using more water with each use. They do make accumulator tanks which give you a much longer time between pump recycling, however it will take up room. These pumps are pretty resilient and are made for the demand of continuous on and off.

This might sound dumb but I had a similar problem. My problem was not the pump but the filters in both faucets were clogged with material from the water/water tank. Clearing the filters in the tap(s) fixed the problem. Maybe you will get lucky.

I have had the same issue with strainer clogging. Apparently when the water tank was installed into the boat white powder residue from cutting/drilling was not flushed out of the tank and ended up in the sink fauset strainer. Also, this is a recurring issue which required repeated cleaning every few months for about 3 years. The residue never made it to the bathroom only the kitchen sink fauset strainer.

We have a similar issue with our fresh water pump except it will stop working intermittently while running the water and for no apparent reason. I have loosened the pump from the plywood it is screwed to (which is located behind the on-board heater coil located under the helm floor) and checked that there is power to the pump. I jiggled it around a bit and loosened the hose connections and then it started to work. I did that twice and now its happened again. Is there a restart switch or a vacuum switch that I should press or does the pump just need to be replaced? Anybody know any tricks you could share?
