Hey there!

Anyone have experience pulling a tube, or other water sports with a Ranger Tug? Possible?

Thanks,

Troy

Certainly the new R23 would work.

We have the R27. Tried wake surfing. Had fun but it didn't work that well. It was a challenge because the wake was slightly to small to work well and the person at the helm can't really see the person they are pulling so instructions have to get relayed from the back of the boat. It is also a little intimidating for the person in the water to have a relatively large boat dragging the rope over to them. Probably broke some rules and made a few safety compromises so my wife made me give it up.

We have a 2015 R25SC and find that at 11 MPH the wake is at its largest. 11 MPH is wake surfing speed! Prior to our Ranger Tug we had always been slolom skiers behind a Sea Ray 240 Sundancer. Surfing that close to the boat is a different experience but once you get used to being that close, it is fun. Because the boat is going away from you, if and when you fall, it is safe, no different than doing it behind a ski boat. No fancy ballast tanks or wake plates needed with the Tug. As long as when you come back to pick up the downed surfer you do it with them on the Starboard side of the boat the visibility is just as good as most any other boat. Even on the port side if you do not approach too closely it is not a problem. Definitely need a competent watcher, but that is a requirement with any boat towing water sports.

Thanks for the replies! 😀

Was expecting a few replies about towing a tube as you don't need much speed to make that fun for kids, wasn't expecting any successful wake surfing stories! very cool

Thanks!

Thanks for this great info. DH and I are awaiting delivery of our R27, and we have wondered about pulling a tube or wake boarding possibilities. Hopefully we'll get to try this out soon now that we know it is do-able.
