Water system holding tank "anti-freeze"

Anyone have a suggestion on purging the factory anti-freeze out of the water system? I thought I had done it but I forgot the shower and out came the pink and stink. I ran all the faucets and I guess I will have to keep running them until the stink is gone. If I could get a hose to the bottom of the water tank I could attach an auxilliary pump to clear it faster. Is there an access I can get to?

Pat, put a hose in the fill line and run all the faucets until it tastes good enough for a scotch and water. Don't test it too soon or you'll waste a lot of scotch. Next year use vodka/gin or scotch. A little more expensive but not wasteful! :mrgreen:

That's the best damn suggestion ever. I am going to use some cheap skotch for the first try. I do have a bottle of that Glen whoever stuff and I will finish myself off with that. Thanks. Pat

If you have the pink stuff in your water heater, it is going to take several fillings and drainings to get rid of the foam. A water heater by-pass is a good, inexpensive investment if your boat doesn't already have one - it allows you to avoid putting the pink stuff in the water heater. After filling and flushing the tank and lines a couple times, I'd also suggest you put a small amount of bleach in the tank to sanitize the lines, then flush some more. After that, you can put a bit of baking soda in the water to eliminate any bleach smell or taste.

Then, GO SOUTH with your boat when winter comes to your area, and you won't have to deal with the pink stuff again! 😉
