I'm about to head out to Lake Powell for a week and would like to know if I should fill up with water (70 gallons) before leaving Texas or does anyone know if there is water available in Page, AZ? How do most folks travel towing a boat- with empty or filled water tanks? Thanks for any advice - Bill

Bill:

We launched at Weaweap (sp.?) right by Page, at the marina. We stayed at the marina our first night and they have water on the docks. While on the lake we used lake water for bath purposes, in order to conserve the water in our tank for dishes, rinsing ourselves off after a lake bath, etc and had enough water for 10 days on the water and on the hook without marina stops. If you want you can visit our blog, do a search for Lake Powell to see where we cruised, how we beach anchored, etc. If you have any questions please feel free to PM us.

And 70 gallons approaches 600 pounds. Much easier on tires, trailer chassis, and fuel consumption if you can get water at your destination. Locally, it is probably not a major problem, but on a lengthy trip it might be well to dump and refill.
