Water under dinette

Last 2 visits to our R27 we found a pool of water under the dinette table! Check the obvious,open windows,hatches and open containers,no connections.Its bad enough that the floor has started to lift,has anyone else experience this?

Hi Dave,

This is probably the deck lights along the sides, I had the same problem. The bezel comes off, seal the two holes for the bezel with some silicone sealant and re-insert the bezels. Also check for water at the aft portion of the cave, I also had leaking from another one of the lights. I sealed all the light bezels on both sides and have never had a problem since.

I will check that out,still confused how that would make it under the table.I would think a leak like that would make it into the little sleeper birth,thanks again!

I had the same issue. Same cause: small deck lights were not properly sealed. Easy fix.

By deck lights, are we talking about the lights labeled as "walkway" lights in the manual (on p 13 of the R27 manual)?

Hi Gini,

Yes, these are the walkway lights. There are 3 on each side on my R27, I sealed all of them. You can pop the plastic bezel off, fill the holes with silicone sealent, then put the bezel back on. I never had a leak problem after doing this.

Hi everyone, I have a question of clarification on how you've sealed the walkway lights. Am I understanding that it's the 2 bezel holes on each light that you're filling with silicone and then reinserting the cover? If so what are your thoughts on getting the bezel cover off if and when the light burns out? or is it the screw holes? I have not had any leaks but when I do I want to be prepared properly.

Howard, thanks for the info. I'm going to take a closer look when I 'm on the boat in the next few days and see if they can use some sealing. We found a small trickle of water in he cave the first time we washed Echo down at the dock. Haven't had it happen since, which was a bit of mystery.

I had this exact problem of water below the dinette after a big rain a year ago on my R27. Andrew advised me to do exactly what HRowland stated. I removed the bezel and the two screws on each fixture on both sides of the boat, then sealed the screws with silicon. No leaks since then.

I filled the bezel holes which solved my leaks. I had water under the dinette and at the aft part of the cave. I have not tried to remove a bezel since. I do not use the deck lights much and will probably never need to replace one.
