Waterlock leak

After doing my annual maintenance, I ran the engine prior to degreasing and cleaning to make sure everything was working correctly. I noticed a leak between the 2 in exhaust hose and the 50 degree rotating inlet to the Vetus WaterLock. After tightening the hose clamps with no success, I removed the hose and waterlock elbow. This is what I found to be the problem! A new waterlock is on order from Fisheries supply along with new hose.
Due to the timing of shipping and my schedule for fishing, I’m repairing the existing elbow with J-B weld and will replace with new waterlock this winter.
Not sure how long it had been leaking but I was surprised as to the damage from the exhaust to the elbow!

I had a very similar problem. Someone (previous owner) had over tightened the clamps and crushed the fiberglass. They sell a stainless sleeve that you can epoxy to the inside of the fiberglass to reinforce it and prevent the problem from reoccurring. I added one. Don’t know if it would help you or not but fyi.

Repair to the elbow and awaiting new hose for installation, new. Elbow is on order with a delivery date of about two months!
